Posted on: 18 September
TERMS OF COMPETITION
1. The 2023 club championships will be played over 72 holes of stroke play, on the following Saturdays: 7 October, 14 October, 21 October and 28 October 2023.
2. Entries in the championships can be made on-line on Friday 29 September 2023 from 8:00pm. Members with 7 day playing rights may enter and can place up to four names on the time sheet.
3. The Championship fee of $95.00 (juniors $45) must be paid in full in the pro shop prior to commencing play in round 1.
4. The championships will be played in 3 Grades: A Grade (handicap up to 12), B Grade (13-19) & C Grade (20+). A player’s grade for the championships will be based on his daily (playing) handicap for round 1. Players with the lowest aggregate scores in each grade over the 72 holes of the championships (top 16 in A Grade and top 8 in B and C Grades) will qualify for the match play championships commencing on Saturday, 18 November 2023.
5. Championships will be conducted in conjunction in the following categories: Junior (under 18 years), Senior (50-59 years) and Veterans (60 years and over). A player’s age category will be based on the player’s age in round 1.
6. The Women’s Weekend Championship will be awarded to the woman or girl with the lowest gross score. Women and girls will be eligible to win the A, B and C Grade nett championships and the gross and nett Age championships. They will play the red course during the championships.
7. Handicaps will remain the same for the championships. If a player’s handicap changes during the championship, the new daily handicap will apply to the daily event only. A player on a provisional handicap during any round is only eligible to win an A Grade scratch prize.
8. Starting times will remain the same for all rounds of the championship, except for players affected by the seeded draw in rounds 3 & 4. Players starting on hole 1 in Round 1 will start on hole 10 in Round 2 and vice-versa. In Rounds 3 and 4 starting times and tees will be as in Round 1 for those not in the seeded draw.
Players are subject to Rule 5.3a if they do not start at their nominated time.
9. A seeded draw of the eight players with the lowest aggregate scratch scores in each Grade (A, B & C) after round 2 will apply to round 3. The seeded draw will be revised for round 4 to include the eight players with the lowest aggregate scratch scores after round 3. Players who qualify for the seeded draw must play at the times allocated in the draw. A seeded draw will also be made for the top four juniors, excluding juniors leading in either A, B or C Grade.
Penalty for breach of condition: Disqualification from the championships (not daily events).
10. Trophies will be awarded to the Scratch and Nett winners in each Grade and age category. Players cannot win the scratch and net trophy in the same Grade/category. However, players may win a trophy in both their Grade and age category.
11. Ties for championship scratch events in A, B and C Grade will be decided by a 3-hole aggregate playoff on holes 1, 8 and 9, followed by a sudden-death playoff over the same holes if required. In the event of a playoff, the Championship Committee will appoint a referee, whose decision(s) will be final. Ties for championship nett and age category events will be decided using the Golf Australia count back system.
12. All disputes must be referred to the Championship Committee, in writing, within 15 minutes of the completion of the player’s round. Decisions of the Championship Committee are final.
13. The Championship Committee comprises Frank Gal (Captain), Jason Moss, Declan Murphy and Ian Jordan. In the absence of any committee member those present may act on behalf of the committee.
14. The Championship Committee reserves the right at any time to alter or vary these conditions.
