GREENKEEPING STAFF NOTIFICATION

Posted on: 23 January

Members are reminded that greenkeeping staff have right of way at all times and must be allowed to complete their work before golfers play their shot.

To put it simply, the greenkeepers are there to prepare the course each day for you.

Unfortunately, as a course run with a comparatively small crew, especially in these austere times, they simply don’t have any other option but to be working out on the course during play, particularly during the peak growing season when mowers are regularly on the course.

The nature of golf course work can at times place course staff in danger. Whilst staff members are trained to be aware, golfers must also be mindful of the situation.

Please also be aware that greenkeeping staff may not be aware of your location or may be wearing hearing protection. Also, the noise coming from machines makes it impossible for operators to hear a golfer call ‘FORE’.

Therefore, please respect our greenkeepers, who are preparing the course for you, by ensuring that you DON’T HIT UNTIL THE STAFF MEMBER IS AWARE OF YOUR INTENTION.

Finally, verbal abuse of greenkeeping staff will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary sanctions, which could include suspension of playing rights. Any complaints against staff should be directed to the GMC or club management.
